Material & Craftsmanship
The raw material for our reclaimed terracotta tiles comes from rooftops and masonry across Europe — over 100 years old, fired using traditional craftsmanship. Each tile is hand-cut from the original material, with the surface finished either lightly sanded or left natural, depending on preference.
Subtle variations in tone, edge and surface are not flaws — they are traces of a century of use, and exactly what makes every tile one of a kind.
Natural material without additives
The roof tile and brick used for these tiles were fired from pure clay over 100 years ago — long before industrial additives existed. We don’t alter the substance: we simply cut it to the desired shape. What you get is unchanged, century-old material — not a reinterpretation.
Application & Areas of Use
Suitable for indoor and outdoor use, for floors and walls, and compatible with underfloor heating. Suitability comes from material strength and proper installation — not from short-lived design trends.

Delivery time is 2–8 weeks.
Delivery is carried out by local freight forwarders to the desired address. Please note that shipping costs are not included in the price of the tiles and will be charged separately.
Worldwide shipping available.
For confirmed orders, an agreed deposit is required, as the tiles are manufactured according to specific requirements. Once production is completed and the order is ready for dispatch, the remaining balance becomes due.
In the event of a return, the deposit paid will not be refunded. The costs for the return shipment are to be borne by the customer.
Surface treatment
With reclaimed terracotta tiles, the surface is already shaped by the age of the material. On request, we also offer sanding, which creates a calmer, more refined look without fully removing the developed patina. Left natural, the tile stays in its original, historic condition.
Sanding is done at our workshop before shipping. This service is available on request and for an additional charge.

Reclaimed terracotta tiles are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Their suitability comes from material strength, density and proper installation.
Indoor Areas
Suitable for floors and walls in living spaces, kitchens, bathrooms and hallways. The effect comes from the patina, format and layout — not from decorative effects.
Outdoor Areas
Suitable for terraces, balconies, facades and comparable outdoor surfaces. The material has already withstood over 100 years of weather exposure and, with proper construction, is built for long-term outdoor use.
Services & Scope
Cotto Rustic focuses exclusively on the production and distribution of handcrafted terracotta tiles, as well as the sale of accompanying products for installation and maintenance, including tile adhesives, grouts, and impregnation products. Installation is carried out by external specialist contractors and is not part of our scope of services.

Is this genuinely reclaimed material or a reproduction?
Genuinely reclaimed. We don’t make “used look” tiles that are newly fired and artificially aged. Our tiles are cut from original material that has already been in use for over a century.
Are reclaimed terracotta tiles suitable for underfloor heating?
Yes. Terracotta stores heat well and releases it evenly — ideal in combination with underfloor heating.
